Married Mary Wood in 1767 in Lunenburg, Massachusetts. [2]
The History of Marlborough, New Hampshire has the following:
John, son of John and Eunice Buss, was born in Lancaster, Mass., Jan 3, 1737. He married in Lunenburg, Jan 1, 1767, Mary Wood. He was residing in Fitchburg in 1766, in which year he was chosen to the office of surveyor of hoops and staves, and was also one of the fire wards of that town for several years. He came to Marlborough in 1778, and settled on the farm still known as the Buss place, situated east of the Henry T. Wiswall farm. We find no record of his death. His widow died in 1837, age 90. [3]
From Booklet Genealogy of the Buss Family
In the year 1775 there lived in Fitchburg, Mass., one John Buss ( who was born in Lancaster, Mass., Jan 3, 1739 and died at the age of 56 years in Marlboro, N. H., in 1795.) At the time of his removal to Marlboro, he had two sons, Zephaniah and David; afterwards on son and three daughters, the entire family comprising Zaphaniah, David, Mary Daniel, Martilda and Eunice. John Buss was not flush with this world's goods, but he brought up a family of six children as well as could be expected in those days, giving them what little schooling was available at that period, which was not much; and when they became of age they looked out for themselves.
