About Lyddia Angeline Hefner Owensby Lyddia (correct spelling) Angeline Butcher was born in 1850 to John Wesley Hartwell Butcher and E Esther Young Callison. Lyddia was the seventh of their eleven children. Her father was 33 when she was born and her mother was 36. Her father was a "hardshell" Baptist minister of German descent who helped to establish Baptist churches. Shortly before Lyddia's birth he moved his family to Missouri.

Married - 19 Oct 1865 - Laclede County, Missouri ^[1] - Lyddia married Lorenzo Dow Owensby (1837-1921) in Lebanon, Missouri. She was fifteen when they married. Lorenzo was a Union soldier who served with one of Lyddia's brothers. Lorenzo had been married twice before. Both of his wives had died due to complications of childbirth. He had just been discharged from service when he and Lyddia were married.

Lyddia and Lorenzo's first child died at birth. They were to have twelve other children. The family lived in a log house on their farm. Lorenzo had over 500 acres he successfully farmed. The farm provided almost everything the family needed to live.

In 1890, when her youngest child was only 18 months old, Lyddia died at the age of forty. She was buried in Kirk's Chapel Cemetery in neighboring Tunas, Dallas County, Missouri.
