Janet was born on the 11 October 1801 in the Hamlet of Kinloch, south of the Village of Collessie, Fife, Scotland and baptized soon after, according to the record[1]. She was the daughter of Robert Butcher (a Hand Loom Weaver) and Helen Ramsay.
Janet (Butcher) marries Andrew (Ferrier) on the 20 June 1830 at Auchtermuchty Parish Church, 3 High Street, in the Village of Auchtermuchty, Parish of Auchtermuchty, Fife, Scotland. Andrew is from this parish and Janet's surname is transcribed as "Butchart"[2]. Then, on the 14 July 1830, they marry at the Parish Kirk of Collessie, Kirkbrae, in the Village of Collessie, Parish of Collessie, in Fife, Scotland[3].
Janet and Andrew don't appear in the Census of 1841 but by 1851, Janet is a widow living with her daughter, Helen (Ferrier) at House number 66, Dunshelt Village, near the Town of Auchtermuchty, Parish of Auchtermuchty, Fife, Scotland[4]. They are both still residing there with the Census Record of 1861[5].
With the Census of 1851, Janet is employed as a Dressmaker.
Janet (Butcher) passes away on the 7 February 1867 at 2.30 am in the Village of Dunshelt, near the Town of Auchtermuchty, in the Parish of Auchtermuchty, Fife, Scotland. She is 64 years old at the time of her death and she dies from Cardiac Dropsy. Her son-in-law, Henry (Taylor) is present at the death, and Informant[6].
