Henry Butcher was born about 1698. He was the son of John Butcher and Martha Blake. Henry was christened on 23rd August 1698, in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England. [1]
Henry married Elizabeth Butcher on 2nd December, 1718. The marriage took place at St. Margaret in Lowestoft, although it was noted as being in Norfolk, not Suffolk. (See research note). [2]
Research Note
Lowestoft is contentiously caught between being a town in Suffolk and also a town in Norfolk. In more recent times the people of Lowestoft, Suffolk were faced with the threat they might suddenly be residents of Norfolk. [3]
