Biography

Cecil Francis Butler was born 4 October 1891 in Newport, Rhode Island, according to most records, although a few give the year as 1892.^[1] He was a tall man of medium build with gray eyes and brown hair.^[1] He served during World War I as a wagoner with the 301st Engineers Battalion, United States Army.^[2] He enlisted 18 September 1917 [originally typed date was 16] and was discharged 20 June 1919.^[2] he shipped out of Montreal, Canada on 11 July 1918 aboard the S. S. Durham Castle.^[3]

He was buried in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket, Providence County, Rhode Island. Plot: Section 53, # 163W.^[2]
