Biography

When Senterlow Butler was born on April 10, 1831, in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England, his father, Thomas, was 19 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 29. He married Emily Snell in October 1853 in his hometown. They had four children during their marriage.

Occupation

Senterlow and his wife Emily are both recorded on English census as working specialty machines for the textile industry. Senterlow himself was a framework knitter and Emily used the double twist machine to blend complex threads.

Death

He died on November 4, 1907, in Fontanelle, Iowa, having lived a long life of 76 years, and was buried there.
