Biography

Jack was born on 04 April 1926 to Howard I. "Abe" and Mayme Bowman Butler in Perrysville, Ohio[1]. He attended and graduated from the Perrysville, Ohio schools. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army and served with the 323 rd Infantry Regiment, 81st Division Wildcats, from 1945-1946 in the Philippine Islands.[2] After his return home, he married Evelyn Ilene Stumbaugh on 30 Jun 1946.[3] He worked at his parent's tavern in Perrysville for a time, then later at the Grease Company in Loudonville, Ohio. He attended barber school at night in Barberton, Ohio while working his day job and eventually set up his barbershop in Loudonville. Jack served the area around Loudonville for many years as a barber and when the business fell off in the mid-60's due boys and men growing longer hair he sold his business and began working for the Ohio Department of Transportation where he retired many years later. Jack passed away on 14 March 2012 and was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dianne Ilene Butler and was survived by his wife of 66 years, Evie, and two adult daughters.[4]
