William Butler was born in Cambridgeshire, England.

William Ebenezer was registered in Cambridge during the first quarter of 1891, his middle name is the same as his Uncle Ebenezer who emigrated to the United States.

He's on the 1891 census with his parents in Hobson Street, Cambridge. His Father was a Groom. In the 1901 census, 10 yr old William is with his family in York Street, Cambridge. His Father is now a General Labourer.

William appears to be in Luzerne, Pennsylvania on the US 1910 census, working for his Uncle Ebenezer Samuel Butler on his "truck farm". See attached census image.

On the 29th of November 1917, 26yr old William married 22yr old Rosetta Crank in Highland Park, Michigan. His occupation was given as "Inspector".

On the 1920 census, William, Rosetta and their 1 yr old daughter Dorothy are living with Rosetta's family in Wayne, Michigan.

In the 1930 census, 39 yr old William is a Machinist in an Auto Factory and lives in Royal Oak, Michigan in his own home. He is also listed as a Veteran of WW (I).

49 yr old William is living in Salem, Michigan and working as a Labourer in the 1940 census. His wife and her widowed Father are also in the home along with a young man listed as Hired Help.
