Biography

Betsey was the daughter of Ephriam Gould Butler and Lovie Sherman (Pease) Butler of Martha's Vineyard. Betsey first married Samuel Knowlton of Farmington, Maine. Following his death, she became the third wife of Ebenezer Wellman, and moved with him to help establish the community of Maineville, Ohio, named after the state of Maine.
