He served in the US Army Air Corps and was discharged on 04 Apr 1946 at Fort McPherson, Georgia, [4] and according to his gravestone he continued his service in the US Air Force, rising to the rank of lieutenant colonel.
He married on 03 Mar 1951 at Mobile, Alabama to Wanda Ruth Mull [5] and they had children:

William resided at Jacksonville, Arkansas in 1962 when his father died. [7]
William passed away in 2003 [8] and is buried at Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery in Blue Ridge, Georgia. [9]
