Biography

Abel was born Feb 1, 1742 in Dunstable New Hampshire.^[1] He married Mercy Heald Jan 21 1765 in Dunstable(unsourced)

Abel died 17 April 1814 in Farmington Maine where many Butterfields moved. He was survived by his wife and 11 living children. The details are given in his will in Farmington and include names of his children and wife Mercy. His older sons Abel, Zechariah and Joseph apparently did not follow the family to Farmington; the will states that they accepted $100 and forswore any claim to Abel's estate. ^[14]
