Obituary
Alta Mae James, 91, formerly of 528 Elk Avenue, Kane, died early Monday morning, November 24, 2008, at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where she resided.
Born May 1, 1917, in Curwensville, she was the daughter of Frank W. and Rachel A. Wise Butters.
On July 16, 1948 in Kane, she married Wilbur R. James, who died in 2000.
A 1934 graduate of Kane Area High School, she worked for many years at the Sekura Silk Mill.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kane, where she belonged to the Women's Missionary Group.
Surviving are three daughters, Nancy Brubaker of Elmira, N.Y., Dawn Burket of Elkland and Elaine Henry of West Chesterfield, Mass.; a son, Ross James in Nevada; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, plus several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her husband and parents, by brothers Howard and Royden Butters and a sister, Ruth Prince.
A memorial service will be held privately at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Kane.
