Research Notes
The book George Wightman of Quidnessett, by Mary Ross Whitman contains an error on page 141 where it describes Ruby Butts as a descendant of Mayflower passenger William Bradford through her "grandmother" Annie Bradford; however Annie Bradford was actually Ruby's sister-in-law, married to her brother Daniel Butts (1782-1859).[1][8]
Some trees on Ancestry erroneously have her name as Ruby Knight Butts, which contains an invented middle name based on her mother's surname. No records support Ruby ever using any middle name. These trees all appear to be copied from other trees.
