VERNON BUXTON, 53 A FORMER RESIDENT, DIES
Vernon Buxton, 53, of Miami, Fla, a former Fort Dodge resident died at Hamilton County hospital in Webster City late Sunday night. He had been a medical patient there since Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Buxton had been visiting Mrs. Buxton's brother in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Sid Ackerson, here and with other relatives in Duncomb. Friday, while visiting at Duncomb, Mr. Buxton became ill. He was taken to the Webster city hospital for treatment and his condition was regarded as critical from the first. The body is at the Wilder and Bruce funeral home, where friends may call. Funeral arrangements, incomplete pending word from relatives at a distance, will be announced later. Mr. Buxton, born December 3, 1898, in Black Hawk County was the son of Mrs. Emma Buxton of Cadott, Wis, and the late Thomas Buxton. He was married to Ms. Evelyn Crouse, in Fort Dodge in 1920. The couple lived here for three years, moving to Miami, Fla., in 1923, where they had made their home ever since. Mr. Buxton was a carpenter by trade. Surviving him are his wife, one son, Lt. William T Buxton jet pilot stationed with the US Air force on Ho-kaido, Japan; his mother and three granddaughters, Donna, Linda and Billy Beth Buxton, all of Miami. Five brothers and sisters, Lloyd Buxton of Oak Lawn, Ill, Earl V Buxton of Long Beach, Calif, Leonard Buxton, San Jacinto, Calif., Mrs. Daisy McOsker of san Jacinto and Mrs. C.L. Nicholas of Riverdale, Fort Dodge. Also survived, as do two half-sisters, Mrs. Art Engles [Ingles] of Cornell, Wis., and Mrs. E Morris of Oak Lawn; and two half brothers, Burnett Hodge of Oak Lawn and Robert Hodge of Oak Lawn. His father, and one son, Sgt. John Vernon Buxton, killed in action during WWII, preceeded him in death. -- Fort Dodge Messenger and Chronicle Monday July 13, 1952
RITES THURSDAY FOR VERNON BUXTON, 53
Funeral rites for Vernon Buxon, 53, Miami, Fla, a former Fort Dodge Resident, will be held thursday afternoon at the Wilder-Bruce funeral home. Dr. James J Davies, pastor of the first methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Duncomb cememtary. Mr. Buxton, who had been visiting realitives in Fort Dodge and Duncomb recently, became ill while at Duncomb last Friday. He was taken to the Hamilton County hospital, where his condition was concidered critical from the first. He died at the hospital Sunday night. -- Wednesday July 16, 1952
