Biography

From 1880 U.S. Federal Census:: Andrew J. , 65 y.o._wagon maker_wife's name- Elizabeth 37_current residence-NewDerry, Westmoreland, PA_9 children?__Anna 18, Frank 16, Samual 14, John 12(my Gr. Gr. Grandfather), Birtie 11, B.Flora 9, Elizabeth 7, David 5, George 3... With this information, I am going to strongly infer that this Andrew J. Byerley, is the father of John Gary Byerly, and my grandmothers grandfather. I have posted a scan of the 1880 and 1860 Census with regards to Andrew J... Please note the different spelling from date to date. The correct spelling of Byerly takes another odd change in following Census record by my Gr. Grandfather to read John Gary Biarly with the correct spelling in brackets [Byerly] directly below in the type written transposition... After that the Byerly name returns to the following decade counts with no further hiccups:) ..... I absolutely believe this is a more complete/accurate Andrew J. Byerly post than the earlier Byerly-53 posting... I confidently decided to go ahead and post Byerly-611 as completion of my family's Byerly "branch"...I certainly appreciate fully the wonderful contribution by others. Raymond "Stephan" Bokey

I found his christening at the Cumberland County Historical Society in Carlisle, PA. I need to verify this, but I think it was The German Reformed Church.
