Biography

John Byerly was born about 1754 in Pennsylvania. According to Ohio Genealogy Express, he moved to Pickaway County, Ohio in 1811. The same source indicates that John Byerly was the father of 12 children and that he did not own land. However, he leased a farm owned by John Martin in Harrison Township, Pickaway County.

John "Bierly" Senior and Junior appear side by side in the 1820 Census of Scioto Township, Pickaway County, Ohio.[1] He is simply enumerated as "over 45." There are two children in John Bierly Senior's Census report. A son under 10 years old and a daughter aged 16 - 26.

In 1826, John Byerly Senior and John Byerly Junior were taxed in Harrison Township, Pickaway County, Ohio.[2]
