Biography

Joseph Byerly was born about 1768 at Bylerly Station, Bushy Run, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.[1] He is the son of Andrew Hans Andreas Byerly and Pheobe Gulden. Joseph Byerly died before May 1801 at Manor, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.[2]

Research Notes

  • Original death date given for Joseph of 12 Jan 1801 is the date he signed his will not the day he passed away. The will was entered into probate and recorded on 6 May 1801. So his death date was most likely a few days or weeks before the 6 May 1801 date.
  • In the will, the surname of Byerly and Byerley used interchangeably. Towards the end of the will, Byerley was the spelling most used. Joseph and Elizabeth both signed as Byerley.[2]
