James Byers was born in 1840 in Wetheral, Cumberland, England, the son of Margaret (Anderson) Byers and Richard Byers.
He was christened on 19 July 1840 in Wetheral.[1]
Migrating to Australia, James arrived in Melbourne, Victoria in January 1858 on the 'British Lion'.[citation needed]
He married Louisa Jane Kenworthy on 21 December 1864 in Kyneton, Victoria.[2] Their children were:[citation needed]
James died in 1921 in Ryde, New South Wales.[citation needed] His remains were buried in Lakemba, New South Wales.[citation needed]
