Biography

James Byers was born in 1840 in Wetheral, Cumberland, England, the son of Margaret (Anderson) Byers and Richard Byers.

He was christened on 19 July 1840 in Wetheral.^[1]

Migrating to Australia, James arrived in Melbourne, Victoria in January 1858 on the 'British Lion'.^{[citation needed]}

He married Louisa Jane Kenworthy on 21 December 1864 in Kyneton, Victoria.^[2] Their children were:^{[citation needed]}
