Biography

NOTE: Reference numbers at the end of each sentence match up with numbered references under Sources.

Eva Byers (also known as Eve Byers), the daughter of Casimir Byers, was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. 1,2 She was later married in Lancaster County to a man named Peter Landis. 1,2 Peter, who was the son of Felix Landis and Catherine Loben, had been born on 27 April 1741 in Lebanon Township in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (now within Lebanon County, Pennsylvania). 3,4

Sometime in the latter part of the 1790's, Peter and Eva left Pennsylvania and moved to Virginia, where they settled in the vicinity of Fincastle in Botetourt County. Peter and Eva were subsequently found on the 1810 census of Botetourt County with one male and one female residing with them, who are believed to be their son Peter, Jr. and his wife, Sarah Kelly. 5 Because Peter and Eva have not been found in any documents dated after this census enumeration, it is believed that they both died in Botetourt County, Virginia sometime after 1810. 5
