John married Mahala Rose on 17 April 1855 in Izard County, Arkansas. Their children were George, Barbara, Anderson,[1] Sarah, infant daughter, James, Stonewall,[2] Nancy, Mittie, Snoda and William.[3]
John served in Company F, of Col. Freeman's Reg, Confederate Army from 1 September 1861 until the close of the war. He was an attorney.
John died on 28 November 1883 in Lunenburg, Izard County, Arkansas aged 55. He is buried in Lunenburg Cemetery, Lunenburg, Arkansas.[4]
