Albert Lee (Al) Bynum
Mendenhall - Albert Lee Bynum, 73, passed away Monday, October 29, 2007 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram and 12:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. service time Thursday at Kennedy Springs Baptist Church in Magee. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Simpson County, Mr. Bynum had lived most of his life in South Jackson, moving home to Mendenhall in the last year. A veteran of the United States Air Force, Mr. Bynum was an officer for the Jackson Police Department. He was part of the first Helicopter Team and retired in 1982 from Accident Investigation. Later he drove tour buses all over the country. He loved to play music, fish, hunt and cook for his friends. Mr. Bynum was a member of "Roll Call" which is a group of retired Police Officers and a member of the MS Bluegrass Association. He was a member of Kennedy Springs Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Annette Bynum; daughter, Dottie Fay Dick, son Tommy Sullivan and his parents, Vernon A. and Pearlie Jane Bynum.
Survivors include his daughters, Regina (Cecil) Meadors of Byram, Stacy Smith of Mendenhall; brothers, James Bynum of Mize, Royce Bynum of Mendenhall; sister Eva Nell Tyrone of Richland; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Kennedy Springs Baptist Church in Magee or Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.
