Biography

Judge was the son of Augustus and Deborah Bird.

In the 1870 Census ^[1] the following persons are listed in the household, Augustus Bird age 40, Deborah Bird age 38, Eliza Bird age 16, Noah W Bird age 11, Virgin M Bird age 8, Judge B Bird age 6, Cathrine Bird age 4, Avenor Bird age 1. (Names spelled as on census record).

He married Susan E. Denmark on 8 Oct 1884 in Bulloch County, Georgia. On the marriage record his name is listed as Judge Berrien Bird. Susan died in 1896. Following her death he married Annie Futch. Annie died in 1938.

In the 1940 census ^[2] Judge Berry Byrd is listed as 74 years old and is living with sons Alton age 29, Harvet age 25, R. Heywood age 20 and Grover C. Allen (son-in-law) and Judge’s daughter Etta B. (married to Grover). (Names spelled as on census record).

Judge died in Savannah, Georgia in 1943 and is buried in Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Bulloch County, Georgia. The name on his grave is listed as J. Beevis Byrd.
