The Somerset County Tax List for 1757 was compiled by Elget Hitch, constable, and he was listed therein in Wicomico Hundred in the same household as negroes Will and Conunder.

In 1761 William Byrd patented a tract called "Venture" west of Rockawalkin Creek for fifty acres, and a second patent known as "Hackley" dates to the 1670s.[26][27]

Admrs. for the whole and in the Whole Jointly and Severally firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals and dated this 16th day of June Anno Dom. 1762
The Condition of the above Obligation is Such that whereas the Commissary General hath transmitted unto this Court the Account of the Estate of Thomas Bird decd. wherein it is found that there is a Ballance due to the above Said Representatives the Sum of One hundred and Twenty Six pounds Sixteen Shillings and five pence Curt Money therefore if the abovesaid Catherine Bird, William Bird and Purnall Johnson them or Any of them their or Any of their heirs Exrs.
