Mrs. Rena Byrd Burchett, 83, of Winston-Salem died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born June 2, 1916, in Wilkes County to Charlie H. and Bertha Walker Byrd. Mrs. Burchett was a member of Vernon Forest Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school. She had retired from Western Electric and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club. Mrs. Burchette was preceded in death by her husband, James Ervin Burchett, in March 1999. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Hall and husband, Larry, of Fuquay Varina, N.C., and Pat Brinkley and husband, Gerald, of Lexington; and one grandson, Michael Brinkley and wife, Lisa; and two great-grandchildren, Anna Elizabeth and Adrian Michael Brinkley, all of Fletcher, N.C. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Forsyth Memorial Park , with the Rev. Sammy Shoaf officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
