Biography

Elsie was born in Melbourne in 1864, the only daughter of Thomas Byrne and his wife Margaret Fitzherbert or Herbert. ^[1]

In November 1886 Elsie married George Arthur Gibbs at Richmond, Victoria. ^[2] Her name was recorded as "Eliza Agnes Byrnes."

At Ignatius's Church, Richmond, by the Rev. J. Mulhall, assisted by the Rev. W. Lawler, of Sandhurst, George A. Gibbs, Railway department, Melbourne, to Elsie, only daughter of T. Byrne, Esq., Parkview-house, Victoria-street, Richmond.

They had 8 or more children.

George died in 1929.

Elsie died in 1940, aged 76. ^[4] after having eight children and many grandchildren who loved her dearly.
