Note

Note: Notes by Mattie Marie Bythewood
I was born on November 2, 1910 in Voth, TX (now part of Beaumont). I was named Mattie Marie Bythewood. Mattie was for my grandmother Bythewood, Marie for my Mother's older sister.
I was told I resembled my gather. My brothers nad sisters' names were Vernah, Grace, Robert, Willis and Altie Lee (Beebe).
My family lived in Voth until I was 8 yrs old. Then we moved to Morgan City, LA. I went to school Voth, Morgan City, University of Southwest Louisiana in Lafayette, La 1928-31. As a student I liked Botany and Home Economics. My ambition was to become a Home Economics teacher.
At home I was expected to always make desserts and candy for the family and to trim the Christmas Tree.
My parents were very strict about where I went adn with whom. Everyone had to go to bed by 9:00 PM/
