P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.
At WikiTree we use our own names on our profiles. If you'd like to "anonymize" your name, you can use Anonymous or an initial for either your first or last name, but preferably not both, please. If your "alias" is truly a nickname, you can put that in the Preferred Name field.
For more information on how to use each of the naming fields see this page: Name Fields
For more information on our Privacy Levels, click the Privacy tab on your profile or take a look at our Privacy help page.
I am going to be signing off shortly, so I am going to use a profile in my family to explain. There are three factors in play 1) have you signed the honor code; 2) is there a profile manager or is it an orphaned profile and 3) the privacy level. The padlock indicates the privacy level of the profile. You can click on the padlock on your own profile to see the different privacy levels. If the padlock is open and there is no profile manager, anyone who has signed the the honor code is able to adopt the profile, edit it and add family members. If the privacy level is not open and there is a profile manager, on the profile there is a link to be added to the profile's trust list, you would use this to send a message to the profile manager. If the profile is not open and there is no profile manager, you would need to sign the honor code and then let me know. We would need to contact the team to have them make you the profile manager. This is link is for my grandfather's profile. Someone else had created it prior to my joining Wikitree and had the privacy level was not open. Therefore, for me to work on his profile, I had to contact the profile asking to be added to the trusted list. Max Sikorski
Could you give me the link for your great-grandmother's profile. Look next to her name, it will say ID/LINK/URL. If you put your mouse over LINK it will allow you to copy it. You can then paste it in a reply to me.
