Biography

Obituary posted on Find A Grave reads: "Former Elaine Cadden, age 26, dies Unexpectedly: Mrs. Elaine Cadden Doré, aged 26, of Washington D. C., wife of Francis Doré and a resident of Kane until 5 years ago, succumbed unexpectedly at the District of Columbia Hospital at Washington this morning, where she had been a patient with polio. She died 6 days before her 27th birthday. Mrs. Doré was apparently making an excellent recovery when complications attending the Bulbar type of polio resulted in her death. The former Elaine Cadden, daughter of Harriet Cadden, and the late Thomas Joseph Cadden, of Kane, was stricken with the bulbar type of polio three weeks ago, and had been in an iron lung since that time. Her mother had been with her since she was stricken and was brought home yesterday by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cadden, Jr., accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Doré's two children, Sharon aged 4 and Danny, aged 3. Mrs. Doré was born in Kane on November 20, 1928, attended elementary Central School, and was graduated from Kane High School in 1946. The couple moved to Washington D.C. about five years ago. She leaves her husband and two children; her mother, Mrs. Harriet Cadden and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mary Jane Chavez, of Kane; Mrs. Margaret Herron, of Kane; Thomas Cadden of Kane and Robert Cadden of Erie, Pa. Arrangements are being made today for removal to Kane for final interment.

Doré Services: Modified quarantine funeral services for Mrs. Elaine Cadden Doré, 26, former Kane resident whose death occurred Monday morning at the District of Columbia Hospital, Washing D.C., following an illness with Bulbar polio, will be held here Thursday at the convenience of the family. Removal from Washington will be made this evening, with the remains scheduled to arrive here Wednesday morning. Arrangements are in charge of the John F. Hill Funeral Home.

Mass Said Today For Elaine Doré: Requiem High mass for Mrs. Elaine Cadden Doré, 26, former Kane resident whose death occurred unexpectedly Monday morning at Washington, D.C., was said this morning at 9 o'clock at St. Callistus Church, with the Rev. Fr. Carl L. Lippert as celebrant. Pall bearers were Maurice Donovan, Arnold Erickson, Carl Carlson, Paul Carley, James Greville, and Clair Grolemund. Interment was in St. Callistus cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the John F. Hill Funeral Home. Relatives and friends from out of town, who attended the funeral included Francis H. Doré and children Sharon and Danny, from Washington D.C.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cadden, Erie; C.W. Cook, Plainfield, N.J.; Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Doré, Sr. of Berea, Ohio; Mrs. T. G. Shinn, Cleveland, O; Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Doré, Jr. Brecksville, O.; and Robert Doré, Parma, Ohio."
