Biography

Sarah was born about 1852 in Kingswinford, Worcestershire, England, the daughter of James Cadman and Mary Round ^[1].

She married Eli Jones on 19 May 1870 at St. Mary's, Kingswinford, Stafford, England ^[2] and their son Edgar O Jones was born in 1871 ^[3].

For some reason she was registered as being in both her mother's home and her own home on the day of the 1871 Census ^[4].

Unfortunately, Edgar died in November 1871 and was buried on 8 November 1871 in Kingswinford, Stafford, England ^[5].

Two more children were born to Sarah and Eli. Samuel L Jones who was born in 1784) and Maud C Jones who was born in 1876. Sarah and the two children travelled to Australia aboard the same ship as her mother, stepfather and siblings, the "Hereford" which arrived in New South Wales, Australia on 20 December 1878. It could be that her husband, Edgar, travelled to Australia prior to Sarah and the children coming as she was listed on the Passenger Manifest under the heading, "Wives & Families of Residents in the Colony." ^[6]
