Biography

Angélique Cadotte was born in the summer of 1818, the daughter of Laurent Cadotte and Suzanne Mackegone/Cree.^[1] She married Daniel McDonald according to the custom of the country before 1836.^[2] They had a daughter Marie Catherine. Angélique married Louis Grandbois before 1844.^[2] They had children Louis, Jeremie, Rosalie, Virginie, Joseph and Elise. Angélique probably died between 14 Jun 1895 (on census) and 19 Jun 1900 (not on census) in Pembina, North Dakota, United State and was buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oakwood, Walsh, North Dakota, United States.^[3] According to a descendant who spoke to a priest at the church, she and Louis and buried here, no stone for them.

Angélique had a scrip on 8 Aug 1879^[1] which said she was the wife of L. Grandbois from Ste. Agathe, the daughter of Larond & Susan Cadot, that she was born in the summer of 1818 in North West Territories. Her husband attested:

"I Louis Grandbois of the Parish of Ste. Agathe in the County of Provencher and Province of Manitoba make [?] [?] and say as follows. 1. That Angelique Grandbois is my wife 2. That she was residing with me on the 15th July 1870. 3. That she was an actual and bona fide resident living in a house and not temporary in a tent, in the Province of Manitoba on the 15th July 1870. Sworn before me at Winnipeg July 79. ? Malaterre Louis (his X mark) Grandbois"
