According to the baptismal register of Hamilton in Lanarkshire, Scotland, Janet Cadzow was born at Hamilton, Lanarks on 23rd February 1821. Four weeks later …on 16th March 1821… her parents, James Matthew Cadzow and Elizabeth nee Cowie, presented their new daughter at their local church for baptism.
On 18 September 1848 Janet married John Meek at Fauldhouse, West Lothian, Scotland.

John and Janet emigrated to New Zealand in 1875 (both aged 54) with their children John (20), William (18), Ann (16), Peter (11), and Jas (ie, James) (6).[1]
Janet died in Milton, South Otago on 27th January 1902.[2] Two days later she was buried at Fairfax Cemetery at Tokoiti [Milton] alongside her husband who'd died seven and a half years earlier.
