Thomas was born in 1864 in Ireland, the son of Fergus Cahill.
His family emigrated from Ireland to New Zealand and were said to have arrived in 1875. Thomas would therefore have been about 10 years old.
For 37 years Thomas carried on a land and estate business in Auckland. Some of his dealings involved handling the land divisions and sales of the property of Sir John Logan Campbell and the Hon Mr Mossman.
Thomas married Mabel Deacon, the youngest daughter of Thomas Deacon of Riverhead.
He passed away in 1918 at his residence in Tawera Road in Greenlane, Auckland. He had been ailing for about two years but became more seriously ill only 2 months before he died.
In his will he named his wife, and accountant Frank Ernest Mason, as his executors and trustees of his estate.
He was survived by his wife Mabel, two sons and a daughter (Arthur, Ralph and Sylvia). Sadly his wife only survived him by a few weeks, as she died in November 1918.
Thomas was born about 1870. He passed away about 1915.
