Biography

He was at home in Curry for the 1901 Census but then went to Wombwell Yorkshire UK where he worked in the mines with his older brother James. He emigrated to New York on the SS Majestic in 1904. He then travelled to Butte Montana where he mined copper with James and John Brett and John Duffy his future brother in law. He later worked in Anaconda mine in California, My uncle Joe said he worked in Shorey Mine, near Trujillo in North Peru. I have pictures of James Duffy there maybe Martin took the pictures. Martin returned to Ireland in 1918. He married Kate Duffy in 1919 and farmed in Curry until his demise in 1941.
