Thomas was born before 1330. He was the son of John Cailly. He passed away after 1350, when he granted "to William de Fordele "the wardship and marriage of William son and heir of Roger Snecke of Ormesby and the lands the said Roger held of the manor of Ouby, Ormesby, the feast of St Andrew the Apostle, 24 Edward III" (30 November 1350) - he is named in the deed as "Thomas Cayle son of John Cayle knight."
