Biography

Orginally this profile was attached to William Cain-4710 and Elizabeth Powerll-12701 as parents, but our DNA Cain Group determined this was not likely. Will re-evaluate and adjust as needed.

Richard was born in 1805, according to the U.S. Fed Census Mortality schedcule. [1] This is consistant with the 1850 census when he is said to be 46 years old. [2]

He is thought to be the son of Abel Cain and Mary "Polly" Griffin, based on the wills from Polly's brother and father. (will details soon)

He married Elizabeth Daniel on 22 October 1826 in Richmond, Georgia.[3] *see Research notes below.

Research Notes

  • We know that Richard married Elizabeth since that is the name found on census records.
  • We know per a marraige transcription that he married Elizabeth "Daniel" but no source for that transcription can be found. Marriage not found in the other marriage certificates for that year in Richmond. Searched other years and other counties. Also searched a series of newspaper articles for this marraige, and not found there.
