An old family tale among the Harmons is that Lavernia was given her name by Indians who were camped in the back of the Cain property. They were there the night the baby was born and gave her the name "Lavernia" ... later changed to "Laverna", the name of George C. Harmon's first child and Pat Iverson's grandmother.
