Calabrese, 97, Johnstown, died March 3, 2015, at Church of the Brethren Home, Windber. Born July 11, 1917, in Greensburg, son of Samuel and Carmella (Lavalle) Calabrese. Preceded in death by his by his parents; loving wife of 65 years, Sally (Avampato) Calabrese, who died in2008; daughter, Marcia Sommer, who died in 2009; brothers, Raymond and James; and sisters, Lidia, Katherine, Helen, Rose, Angeline and Millie. Survived by his loving daughter, Janice Diodato, and her husband, Andrew, Jackson, N.J.; grandsons, Drew Diodato, and his wife, Jennifer; Joseph Diodato; and Christopher Sommer; son-in-law,Christopher Sommer Sr.; great-granddaughters, Brittany Diodato and Drew Jennifer Diodato; and great-grandsons, Benicio Diodato and Lorenzo Diodato, all of New Jersey. Also survived by his brother,Samuel Calabrese; sister, Edith Chop; and many nieces and nephews. He was formerly employed by John Hancock Financial Services for 29 years, having retired in 1980. Past president of National Association of Security Dealers. He was a graduate of theUniversity of Pittsburgh and attended Duquesne School of Law. A World War II Army veteran who landed in Normandy during the D-Day invasion in 1944. He served as president and treasurer of Lower Yoder school board, and served on Greater Johnstown school board. Past president of Cambria Life Underwriters Association and PAC Lower Yoder Civic Club. He was loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Friends and family received from 4 to 7 PM Sunday, March 8, at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at Our Motherof Sorrows Catholic Church, 415 Tioga St., Johnstown, the Very Rev. Mark S. Begly. Entombment, Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum.
