Berg, Doris Calame 87, of Punta Gorda, FL, formerly of Edina, MN, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, gently in her sleep at her home. She was born Nov. 20, 1918 in Wortham, TX. Doris lived in Texas and Oklahoma City until she met the love of her life, Bill Berg. Because of his work, they moved around the United States to Milwaukee, Cleveland, Edina, and Wyckoff, NJ, before settling in Edina in 1971. In 1985, they bought a retirement home in Punta Gorda and moved there to live full-time in 2004. Doris had one daughter and a much loved son-in-law but the lights of Doris' life were her three grandsons, whom she spoiled and doted on blissfully until the day she died. Doris loved her many friends, bridge companions, shopping buddies, and fellow romance and mystery novel readers. She had a boundless capacity for love and a joyful spirit that will live in her family and friends forever. Doris is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Wilbur (Bill) Berg; one daughter, Lisa Berg; son-in-law, David Drown; and three adored grandsons, Mike, Matt and Andy, all of Minneapolis, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilly and Flora Calame; her sister, Anita Calame Madeira; and her nephew, Steve Madeira. A memorial service will be held in celebration of Doris' life at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2006, at the Lakewood Cemetery Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave., Minneapolis. Memorial contributions are requested in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimer's Association, 4550 West 77th Street, Suite 200, Minneapolis, MN 55435.[3]
