Biography

Ellen Cahalan was born in 1835, probably in Carrabane, County Galway, Ireland where she was christened on 12 April 1835.^[1] She was the daughter of Martin Cahalan and Winifred Kelly.

In 1857, Ellen married Cornelius (Connor) Morris/Morrissy.^[2]

Ellen and their three eldest children migrated to Victoria, Australia on the Royal Standard, arriving in Melbourne in December 1865.^[3] Husband Martin had migrated two years earlier.^[4]

She passed away on 25 April 1906 and was buried on 5 May at Castlemaine Cemetery, Campbells, Creek.^[5]
