Joseph Wilson Callahan, Jr. was born on 26 Oct 1926; he was the son of Joseph Callahan and Mary Lyle.[1]
In 1930,[2] Joseph Wilson Callahan, Jr. (age 3, born Alabama) was living in Bessemer, Jefferson County, Alabama in the household of his father, Joseph W. Callahan, Sr. (age 28, born Alabama), with his mother, Mary J. Callahan (age 23), and his brother: William E. Callahan (age 1, born Alabama). Joseph, Sr. was born in Alabama as were both his parents. Mary was born in Alabama, but both her parents were from Tennessee. Joseph, Sr. was employed as a machinist in an ore mine.
In 1940,[3] Joseph Callahan, Jr. (age 13, born Alabama) was living in Sheffield, Colbert County, Alabama in the household of his father, Joseph W. Callahan, Sr. (age 38, born Alabama), with his mother, Mary J. Callahan (age 33), and his brother: William Callahan (age 11, born Alabama). In 1935,[3] Joseph, Sr. had been living in a rural part of Morgan County, Alabama, but his wife & children were living in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. Joseph, Sr. was employed as a machinist working for the T. V. A. (presumably the Tennessee Valley Authority). Mary J. Callahan was employed as a clerk in a department store.
In 1942,[4] Joe Callahan was a sophomore in the Sheffield High School, in Sheffield, Colbert County, Alabama.
On 3 Jun 1949 in Colbert County, Alabama,[1] [5] Joseph Wilson Callahan, Jr. married Betty Jean Pilgrim. This was the 1st marriage for each of them; they were both current residents of Colbert County, Alabama. Joseph was 22 years old (born 26 Oct 1926 in Bessemer, Alabama), and Betty was 20 years old (born 5 Mar 1929 in Sheffield, Alabama). Joseph's parents were Joseph Wilson Callahan, Sr. and Mary Lyle; Betty's parents were William Cecil Pilgrim and Ila Fisker [??].

Joseph Wilson Callahan Jr., 84, passed away Monday, Nov. 29, 2010 after an extended illness.
He was a lifelong resident of the Shoals and an avid antique car collector, who enjoyed working on his cars as much as he loved to show them off. He was a member of the pipefitters local No. 760. After retiring from J.K. Johnson, Joe enjoyed walking his two favorite dogs, Dixie and Molly, around the old village Liberty Bell field.
Visitation for Joe Callahan will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Berkley Webb will be officiating. Mr. Callahan was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jo Lyle Callahan and Joseph Wilson Callahan Sr.; and granddaughter, Ashley Brooke Callahan. Survivors include his four children, Vicki Callahan Flower (Ben), Joseph William Callahan (Janice), Carol Callahan Cole (Carl) and David Wayne Callahan (Paige); seven grandchildren, with two great-grandchildren on the way.
The family extends special gratitude to everyone for their prayers, thoughts and support.
