Biography

Cora May Callin was the daughter of James Monroe Callin (1844-1901) and Almira A Weirick (abt.1858-1889), born on 24 Apr 1881 in Portage, Wood County, Ohio. Her parents lived for a brief time in Deerfield, Michigan, where her younger sister, Aurilla, was born. Her mother died in Bowling Green when Cora was 8 years old. In 1900, she lived with her grandparents, Jason and Matilda Weirick, in Harrison, Henry County, Ohio.[1][2][3]

Cora married Joseph Able Low on 21 Dec 1902 in Henry County, Ohio.[4]

Joseph Able Low and Cora May Callin had the following children:

  • Oneita Ione (Low) Morton (1904-1981)
  • Alma E (Low) Storey (1909-1998)

Joseph farmed in Harrison, Henry County, and he and Cora had two daughters there, before 1910. Sometime between 1910 and 1917, they moved to another farm in Mt. Pleasant, Isabella County, Michigan. Both of their daughters were married in the spring of 1925, and Joseph and Cora divorced on 8 Aug 1925 in Genesee County, Michigan.[5][6][7][8]

Cora remarried Henry Isaac Squire on 26 Nov 1929 in Lorain County, Ohio. Henry was the son of Isaac E Squires (1837–1916) and Martha Ann Manning (1843–1927), born on 10 Apr 1873 in Lorain County, Ohio, and raised in Elyria. He married his first wife, Mattie Bell Peabody (1875–1941) on 18 Mar 1895 in Lorain County, and they raised a daughter, Marjorie L Squire (1906–1979), in Pittsfield, Lorain County. Henry was a coal dealer in Oberlin for many years, and he and Mattie divorced, probably after Marjorie was married, about 1926.[9][10][11][12][13][14][15]

Cora died on 9 Sep 1936 at age 55 in Oberlin, Lorain County, Ohio, and was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Bowling Green, Wood County, Ohio. Henry died on 7 May 1955 at age 82 in Oberlin, and was buried in Westwood Cemetery in Oberlin, Lorain County, Ohio.[16][17]
