Biography

Elizabeth Callen was born in Tennessee, but the date of her birth is not found. According to Family Search, she is the daughter of Charles Callen and Alice Cowgill.[1] When better documentation is available, the parental relationships can be marked as confident.

She married Morgan G. Maupin, Sr. on 30 May 1822 in Knox County, Tennessee.[2] The marriage bond was signed by Morgan Maupin and her brother, Archibald Callen on 28 May 1822 in Knox County, Tennessee.[3]

She passed away about 1839.

Research Notes

Good documentation of her connection to her parents has yet to be attached, but her marriage bond was signed by an Archibald Callen, presumably her brother. Family Search shows her as a daughter of Charles Callen and Alice Cowgill, and Archibald is shown as a brother.[1]

A newpaper article reviewing a Callen family reunion gives some genealogical info: Charles "family consisted of 4 boys and 3 girls, Charles, Henry, Archie, Neddy, Cassey, Polly and Annie." [4] This Archie, is possibly the Archibald Callen who signed Elizabeth's marriage bond. This may help to connect Elizabeth to parents Charles and Alice. Until better evidence surfaces, her parental relationships are marked as uncertain. However, they should be connected so that DNA evidence can be explored here.
