Francis was born about 1842. He was the son of John Callinan and Catherine Colpoys.
Francis emigrated to Australia on the ship "Sir George Seymour" in 1852 with hs parents and siblings. His uncle, George Colpoys was also on the ship with his wife and family.[1]
Francis married Sophia Mary Saddler nee Elvin in Roma, Queensland in 1866.[2] Their only child, John Isaac Callinan, was born in 1868 but died shortly afterwards in 1868. Sophia died in 1886.
Francis subsequently married Mary Charlotte King and they had four surviving children - Francis, Stanhope, Emily and William.
Francis passed away in 1902 and is buried in Rookwood Cemetery.[3]
