Biography
When Joseph Winston Calloway was born on April 18, 1856, in Ashe, North Carolina, his father, Elijah, was 52 and his mother, Nancy, was 30. He married Martha Greer in his hometown. They had 17 children in 33 years. He died on February 22, 1931, in his hometown at the age of 74, and was buried in West Jefferson, North Carolina.
