Funeral Rites at Hartville Sunday for Crash Victim:
Funeral services for Captain Ralph Calton, 29, who died with eight members of his crew, in the crash of a KC97 tanker refueling plane, near Windsor, on February 23, were held at 1 o'clock Sunday at the Hartville high school gymnasium. The Baptist Chaplin from Sedalia Air Force Base will officiate.
Captain Calton, who was co-pilot of the plane was stationed at the Sedalia AFB. Memorial services for the nine flyers were held at the Sedalia Air Force Base today.
Captain Calton was a graduate of Hartville High School and the Missouri School of Mines at Rolla. He served two years and a half years with the Air Force in World War Ii, and was recalled immediately after his graduation from the School of Mines, in July 1951.
He is survived by his wife Betty and his three children, his mother, Mrs. Frank Robertson, 354 Taylor, Lebanon, Missouri; his father, Lee Calton, of Hartville; a brother, Robert Calton, Rexburg, Idaho, and two sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Caffell, of Lebanon, and Mrs. Bettie Truelove, of Conway. He leaves many other relatives and friends.
Ralph Dale Calton was born May 22, 1925 to Lee Washington Calton and Edna Hicks Calton in Grovespring, Missouri. Ralph Dale Calton passed away February 23, 1955 in Johnson County, Missouri.
