In 1920, seven-year-old "Ervine" resided at 293 Butler Street in Etna, Allegheny County, with his parents Edward Kalvert (age 44, steel company chemist) and Angeline Kalvert [sic] (42).[4]
The family remained in the same house they owned on Butler Street in 1930.[5] Joseph (age 53, roll manufacturing chemist), Angeline (52) and Julian E. Calvert (17) were joined by his maternal aunt Grace Irvine (38, public school teacher) and a lodger named Annie Sloan (64).[5]
On 19 June 1943 in Bellevue, Allegheny County, he married Marjorie Adell Baldwin,[1] daughter of Ralph Baldwin and Della McPherson.[1]
Julian served in the United States Navy Reserves from 15 June 1942 to 18 February 1946, exiting as a lieutenant.[6]
In May 1950, when Julian applied for veteran's compensation, he was living at 118 Montclair Avenue in Pittsburgh.[3]
Julian died 31 October 1970 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County,[2] and was buried at Allegheny County Memorial Park in McCandless, Allegheny County.[7]
