Janet Cameron was the wife of Sir Walter Stewart of Arthurlie and appears as such in a Charter, under the Great Seal, on 25 Jun 1489, to Thomas Stewart, of Minto, and Isobel Stewart, his wife, of the lands of Househill in the Lordship of Dornlee in the sheriffdom of Renfrew. The Charter states that these lands were those of Janet Cameron, the spouse of the late Lord Walter Stewart of Arthurlie, and which she, stated as the mother to Isobel, resigns.[1]
They had two children:
On 14 Mar 1482/83 there is a Charter, under the great Seal, to Elizabeth Stewart, and Isobel Stewart, spouse of Thomas Stewart, of Minto, daughters and heirs of the late Walter Stewart, of Arthurlie (a witness to the Charter). It is certain, from this Charter, that Isobel was already married while the implication is that Elizabeth was not.[2]
