Biography

James was born in 1843 in Gransha, Islandmagee, County Antrim, Ireland, the son of William Cameron and Ann McAuley. He was baptised on 25-Jun-1843 in 1st Islandmagee Presbyterian Church.[1]

In 1901 James was an agricultural labourer living with his widowed mother Annie in Cloghfin, Islandmagee.[2]

In 1902 he married Isabella McLernon in St Anne's Church of Ireland, Belfast. He was a labourer and 48 years old from 13 Limestone Road, Belfast and she was from Islandmagee, County Antrim. The witnesses were William Cameron and Ann Jane Cameron.[3]

In 1911 James is a general labourer in the Blackstone Quarry and is living with his wife Isabella in Cloghfin, Islandmagee. Isabella's son, Robert Lee, is living with them as a boarder. They also have another 15 year old boarder living with them, Joseph Weatherall.[4]
