Theodore Joseph Campau was born on April 26, 1825 in Detroit, Michigan Territory, son of Joseph Campau (about 1769–1863) and Adelaide Dequindre (1788–1862).[1]
Theodore (26) and Eleanora Lewis (19) were married about March 24, 1852 in St-Peter and Paul Cathedral, Detroit, Wayne.[2]
He was an alderman in the city of Detroit in 1858. Then he was elected to the Michigan legislature in 1858 (age 33). At that time he was a merchant. He served one session. It is reported that he was married though had no children.[3]. He was nominated twice for the Michigan senate but refused both times, apparently not enjoying politics. He worked to continue his fathers real estate interests. He didn't lose all interests in politics as in 1864 he was a delegate to Democratic National Convention as the Michigan chairman of the delegation.[4].
Theodore died on March 10, 1875 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan, United States, aged 49.[5]
In a source his wifes name was Eleanora Messels. Had she been married before? Is this her LNAB[4]
