Alexander was born 28 Dec 1858 at Graham's Road, Prince Edward Island. [1] [2] On October 9 1893, Alexander Campbell obtained a license to marry Clara Muttart from Tryon.t [3] They lived in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. [4]
Alexander was a well-known insurance agent in Summerside. [5]
Alexander and Clara went to Oregon for the winter, for Alexander to recover after an operation. Although at first he seemed to be regaining his health, he died there 15 May 1931. [6]
According to the Charlottetown Guardian, Thane Campbell received a telegram on May 15th informing him of the death of his father that day in Oregon. [7] His body was brought back to Prince Edward Island for burial. [8] [9]
He gave a range of dates on census records, 1858 in 1901, 1856 in 1911, and 1861 in 1921. The family put 1856 on his gravestone. [10]
Here in Canada when a son is named Alexander he is sometimes called Sandy. Don't ask me why? I have no idea. [Simple, pronounce it Alex-Zander, Sandy]

One of those named Alexander Campbell enlisted in the US Army 14 Apr 1873 in Boston for a period of 5 years. He was born in New London, Prince Edward Island, and was 26 years old which is not the right age for this person. He was a cabinet maker with blue eyes, brown hair, fair complexion, standing 5'81/4" tall. He was assigned to company J?, 46th reg and deserted 18 July 1876.
Note 2nd son: James Oliver Clair Campbell b. 20 Nov 1900, Listed on the 1901 census as Alexander.
